We Are
We Are

Like any other group of people, we are a lot of things. We're students, teachers, professionals, and laborers. We're families and friends, married and single, young and and not so young. We are people from many ethnic backgrounds and many parts of this world.
We really are a family here at Keele. We care about one another and enjoy being together! Faith, family and fun is what we're all about.
More than anything else, though, we're Christians. We seek to live, to know, and serve Jesus Christ. As a result, we enjoy the love, fellowship and sense of family that's only possible when God brings people together.
Our StaffPastor Grant
Grant MacDonald, a former member of Keele Street, has returned home to serve with us. Grant graduated from Ontario Christian Seminary (OCS) in 1989. After being ordained into the “Ministry of the Gospel” by Keele Street, he and his wife, Sheila, immediately moved to Prince Edward Island where they served in a combined ministry with the Breadalbane Christian Church and the Fredericton Church of Christ. While there, God blessed them by adding three boys to their family. In 1995, after serving with those congregations for six years, Grant and his family accepted the call to serve with the L'Etete Church of Christ in New Brunswick. Grant and Sheila officially began their ministry on June 17, 2001. If you would like to speak with Grant, just click on link below or click his picture at the top of this page. Melissa
Melissa and her husband, Tim, have been attending Keele Street Christian Church since Easter 2001 when they received one of Grant’s famous (or infamous!) Top Ten lists in their mailbox. It was witty and funny and led us to a wonderful church with amazing people and solid bible teaching. Melissa became involved on the praise teams as a singer, (very) occasional pianist, and worship leader, enjoying the great musical talent God has given so many members of the church. In 2006, Melissa was baptized by Grant at Keele. Melissa is very excited to become the Worship Co-ordinator/Music Director and to continue to be a part of the amazing ministry of worship at Keele. This new position is proving to be challenging and engaging and will continue to evolve as our congregation’s needs change. |
Our EldersGil Cruz
I was raised in a Christian home and started attending church regularly at an early age. I am very grateful to those dedicated Sunday school teachers who planted the gospel's seed in my heart and resulted in my baptism. As is common, peer pressure started to affect me as a teenager. Trivial things became more important to me than finding God's will. I was even more excited to read books about the Bermuda Triangle than opening my bible. Furthermore, I distanced myself from God and His people. I guess you know what happen when somebody goes to the wrong crowd. A youth camp one summer became the tap of God's hand on my shoulder telling me it's been a while and welcoming me back. As a result, I gained a richer deeper perspective and conviction. Finally, I had the peace that eluded me for such a long time. Those moments gave me a glimpse of what heaven has to offer .The joy that can only be found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.. I am happy to be part of Keele Street Christian Church. We started attending here when we moved to Toronto six years ago. This big move is just a leg of a journey. Life continues on its usual course, with steep valleys and winding roads. As in the past, I learned to stop at summits where I can look back to these obstacles that I've gone through and I always see that God has been with me all these years--even in difficulties of life's travel. Gil became an elder at Keele in 2007 and oversees scheduling. Rey delos Santos
Rey came to Canada in March 2004. It was love at first sight! He had served as an elder in the Philippines and wanted to continue serving wherever God led. Rey studied in Manila Bible Seminary and in one of their church planting missions, met his wife Linda. They have been married for 37 years now with three children: Weng, Cris and Darius who passed away in 2003. "Everything in this world is temporary" he always says. He now serves as one of the Sunday School teacher in the Tagalog class and loves to read the scriptures during communion on Sunday. He supports and encourages the children's Sunday School department quoting from Proverbs 22:6: "Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it." Rey became an elder at Keele in 2006 and oversees the visitation and care and concern ministry. |
Our EldersNelson Deuitch
Nelson Deuitch taught New Testament, Greek and other Biblical related courses for 27 years at Ontario Christian Seminary. He has served as an elder for several years at Keele and has done teaching in Russia. Working with Internationals who desire to improve their English skills he helps teach them the Bible and well as helping them adjust to life in Canada. He enjoys helping others and seeing people grow in Christ. Nelson's wife Carolyn (Kate) is a High School teacher who loves to do crafts and is especially adept at making baskets. Nelson oversees the missions ministry Renato "Rene" Questin
Rene writes: "Serving as one of the elders of a multicultural church like Keele Street is a great challenge to me. Back home in the Philippines, I served several years as a deacon but becoming an elder at Keele was a new experience for me! I have found that when you are challenged to do a bigger task in the church, God always fulfils His promise to be our ultimate source of strength. The motivation of the Holy Spirit always sparks our faith to do the will of God and preach the Good News of Jesus Christ! Praise God that we are seeing growth at Keele! We are excited seeing God at work! We would love you to be a part of the excitement, vision and family at Keele. Come! Join us as we worship together! Rene has been an elder at Keele since 2004 and oversees the financial volunteer ministry. Renato "Rene" Sevilla
In March 12, 1983, Rene married his wife Estelita (Ester) and joined her in Hong Kong. Rene and Ester moved to Toronto in 1990 and started attending Keele shortly after that. Rene returned to the eldership at Keele in 2005. Besides loving the worship and preaching at Keele, Rene also enjoys the fellowship and the opportunity to serve. Rene oversees the Sunday School Education ministries. |

Rene, along with his wife Gloria, have been servants at Keele for several years now. Rene and Gloria are blessed with two children.
On April 17, 1979, while living in the Philippines, Rene gave his life to Christ. After being immersed (baptized) into Christ, Rene moved to Saudi Arabia. Christian gatherings are prohibited in Saudi, but Rene became a hungry student of God's Word and grew in his faith over the four years that he was there.
